FAQ

A cloud-based phone system (or hosted system) is a phone system that allows users to make and take calls over the internet. Cloud phone systems use VoIP phone technology to facilitate calls over an IP network.

Unlike traditional PBX systems that are deployed and managed on your business premises, cloud services are provisioned by a third-party vendor like Dialpad. That means your telecommunications are managed off-site by your provider and you’ll pay them a monthly or yearly subscription for the service.

You can port (transfer) your current business phone number and continue using it.

Business VoIP and cloud telephony are often used as interchangeable terms but they are not exactly the same thing.

Most cloud telephony solutions use VoIP technology to facilitate calls over the internet but not all VoIP phone systems are necessarily run on the cloud. Voice over Internet Protocol is the technology that allows call data to be transferred over the internet. Cloud telephony is a type of system that uses VoIP technology to provision hosted telecommunications solutions.

Because everything is managed off-site, there’s no hardware to set up or costly maintenance to manage in house.

Once you’re registered with us, for instance, you’ll be able to make and receive calls on any internet-enabled mobile device using the app or via a browser. Because calls are made via the internet, there are no mainline telecoms companies involved.

The pricing of a cloud phone system varies depending on vendor, and the number of users/features your business needs.

In most cases, a cloud phone system is a more cost-effective option than setting up an on-premises phone system.

You can start from as little as $20 per user, per month for the Standard plan which comes with unlimited calling, SMS and MMS, voicemail, unlimited video meetings, plus phone and live chat support options.
